The UK Video Store is TOXIC and we are SLIPPING UNDER - Britney Spears back catalogue now available for download
Old Britney Spears videos? On Xbox Live Video Store? For MONEY? Is that really all we are worth to you, Microsoft?
Good god. It's beyond belief. While the Americans luxuriate in HD episodes of Lost, the UK Video Store has just been updated with - and you might want to sit down and put any knives well out of reach for this - non-HD videos of the Britney Spears back catalogue.
Now, we're as keen to enjoy the Baby One More Time video time after time as any red-blooded alpha blogger would be, but do we really need the likes of comeback disaster Gimme More and Oops I Did It Again in standard definition on the Xbox Live Video Store?
These SD downloads cost 200 Microsoft points each, incredibly - for something we've seen on TV billions of times before. At least they're semi-exclusive - only the UK and Ireland are honoured with (subjected to?) the Britney catalogue at the moment.
The tracks available are (You Drive Me) Crazy, Baby One More Time, Boys, Gimme More, I'm a Slave 4 U, Me Against the Music featuring Madonna, Oops I did It Again and Toxic. And for your information, no new proper films have been added to the the Video Store - there's still just the 24 launch movies to choose from. The shame of it.
(Clearly this update is simply an elaborate double-bluff and we were ECSTATIC about the prospect of having an endlessly loopable personal HD copy of the Toxic video, only to be very upset about the downloads only being in rubbish old SD).
